Let me introduce to you Susie Jones. I was introduced to Her by my Friend Joanne Norton. Susie has great insight for and about the body of Christ. After taking an honest look at the church, world wide we would have to say it is sick and weak and I would add paralyzed. As you read Susie’s life experiences below, I would challenge you to be part of seeing the body of Christ healed by asking Jesus to once again be the head and respond as He leads.
What are the chances?! I was 22, 2 days shy of my 2nd wedding anniversary and 3 months pregnant. Suddenly the bottom fell out. Car accident, spinal cord injury, paralyzed from the chest down. Bummer! Major, major bummer. But, the good news is, I knew the God that answers prayer. Unfortunately, I didn’t know Him very well. Fortunately, He knew me extremely well … as in, “For it was you who formed my inward parts.” And He wanted me to know Him well.  Lots to learn, lots and lots to learn. And I have, and I will continue to do so. Learn that is. But it isn’t always easy.
You’re more than likely familiar with 1 Cor. 12:25-26 The way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together as a church: every part dependent on every other part, the parts we mention and the parts we don’t, 26 the parts we see and the parts we don’t. If one part hurts, every other part is involved in the hurt, and in the healing. If one part flourishes, every other part enters into the exuberance. My body serves well as an object lesson for that verse. My head and arms are still very much intact. But it takes the whole of the body, working together, to achieve maximum health and well-being. What happens when the whole becomes the fraction? Think 2/3 paralyzed; 1/3 not. Well, at times, chaos reigns.
The head (brain) continues to send signals to the entire body. But the message is short-circuited. It is either garbled or doesn’t get through at all.  Surface feeling is lost, and you are no longer aware of those things that would threaten to bring harm to your body. The cat may scratch; you’re not aware. You stay in one position too long and the blood supply is cut off and sores develop; you’re not aware. Bones that don’t meet resistance become porous and weak. Muscles in one part of the body overcompensate for muscles that are no longer functional. One becomes taxed; the other becomes atrophied. There are times when my body is at war with itself. The very organs that are designed to eliminate the bad, the toxic, the waste become an “aider and abettor” … a harbinger of “germ warfare.” The antibiotics you take to heal, kill off both the bad and the good bacteria, and super bugs develop. Soon you are robbing Peter to pay Paul and a cycle develops in which the body may eventually succumb to the “miracles of modern medicine.” No, it doesn’t happen overnight. It is a process. For me, a 40-year process. But then, there is God. That is also a process. A process of learning to trust. A process of learning the ways of a God that delivers, a God that is faithful, a God that heals, a God that walks you through the valley of the shadow when you aren’t even aware that He is present. You’d like a burning bush. It’s more likely to be a still, small voice. There are times when you feel utterly forsaken and you think you’re alone, but you’re not. There are times when you despair of life itself only to discover that He is life, life unlike any other. And there is grace, grace beyond all that you could ask or think or begin to imagine. And there is always his standing invitation, “Come unto Me.”
But hold on a minute. Let’s consider the body of Christ.  We like to refer to it as the church. What happens when that body is cut off from the head which is Christ Jesus? What happens when communication is either not received or it is not received correctly? The body no longer feels the pain of its other members, the more “uncomely parts.”  Wounds develop that aren’t immediately visible, and they rot inwardly until they become visible outwardly. [Think pressure sores … interesting, the word pressure. Whether external or internal the wound is real.] Those same wounds have to be daily debrid and packed to insure that a surface healing doesn’t occur and leave the deeper wound festering inside. What happens when all the body’s members don’t work together to insure wholeness, and one part can’t fulfill its function and the other part becomes dominant and eventually suffers due to excessiveness?  What happens to that body when “sin lurks at the door,” and it is not dealt with in a timely manner? When the “blood” supply is cut off? Well, let’s go back to I Cor 12:14b-24. The Message Bible makes it fairly clear. 14b A body isn’t just a single part blown up into something huge. It’s all the different-but-similar parts arranged and functioning together. 15 If Foot said, “I’m not elegant like Hand, embellished with rings; I guess I don’t belong to this body,” would that make it so? 16 If Ear said, “I’m not beautiful like Eye, limpid and expressive; I don’t deserve a place on the head,” would you want to remove it from the body? 17 If the body was all eye, how could it hear? If all ear, how could it smell? 18 As it is, we see that God has carefully placed each part of the body right where he wanted it. 19 But I also want you to think about how this keeps your significance from getting blown up into self-importance. For no matter how significant you are, it is only because of what you are a part of. An enormous eye or a gigantic hand wouldn’t be a body, but a monster. 20 What we have is one body with many parts, each its proper size and in its proper place. No part is important on its own. 21 Can you imagine Eye telling Hand, “Get lost; I don’t need you”? Or, Head telling Foot, “You’re fired; your job has been phased out”? 22 As a matter of fact, in practice it works the other way – the “lower” the part, the more basic, and therefore necessary. You can live without an eye, for instance, but not without a stomach. 23 When it’s a part of your own body you are concerned with, it makes no difference whether the part is visible or clothed, higher or lower. You give it dignity and honor just as it is, without comparisons. 24 If anything, you have more concern for the lower parts than the higher. If you had to choose, wouldn’t you prefer good digestion to full-bodied hair?
At age 22, I may have opted for full-bodied hair. But I am older now and hopefully wiser. And good digestion is a good thing – a very good thing, both physically and spiritually. Else how would we digest the “meat,” Paul talks about? The meat of the word. The meat of daily prayer and communing with the Lord. Strong meat.
We are given a commission.  We are told in the gospels to go into the world and  “preach the gospel, heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons ….” A fairly straightforward commission. A simple enough plan.  Until we have tweaked the gospel to the point where it is so politically correct that the power, the passion, the life, the salt and the light are not only indistinguishable, they are completely gone. And yes! The blood. The blood without which the natural body has no life. The Blood without which the church body has no life. The shed blood. Let’s remember the message of Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
It takes a body that is totally dependent on receiving clear communication from the head. It takes a body in which none of the members are cut off from the blood. “This is my blood, shed for you.” Jesus gives the clear command. “Go, and preach the gospel*.
*Mark 16:15-18 – And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Missouri Governor Charles Henry Hardin: Perhaps no better example of the governor’s style of leadership occurred than when the state faced the devastation of the 1875 grasshopper plague. Thousands of Missouri farmers, saw their crops eaten away by insects. State Entomologist C. V. Riley, in a letter of May 18, 1875, urged the governor to at least promote the killing of the grasshoppers by authorizing a bounty for them: “Have you not power to offer a small premium on the part of the State for every bushel of young grasshoppers destroyed? Such a premium would be a powerful incentive to the more destitute of the people in those districts to destroy the pests and thus avert future injury; and, at the same time give them the means of earning a living until the danger is past.”
Hardin, however, was unwilling to spend any tax money for such a venture, and he responded by proclaiming June 3 “a day of fasting and prayer that Almighty God may be invoked to remove from our midst these impending calamities, and to grant instead the blessings of abundance and plenty.” No doubt Hardin felt vindicated in his approach when, soon after, the grasshoppers left the state and headed north to Iowa.

Ok, that is a good start, when is the last time your heard of one of our nations governors call a day of fasting and prayer. That’s history do a google search or go to to your local library and you will find it is true.

 Show me bible prophecy:

Show me state, show me what? Well it comes from us as a people being stubborn as a Missouri mule not believing anything but, it must be proven. Listen I am Missouri to the core born in Independence in 1961. I still recall my father telling me Harry S Truman used to drive by our house on Truman road. Old Harry from Missouri had that buck stops here show me attitude. He himself was used by God to help the Jews return to Israel and become a nation after 2000 years of not being one.

“The Man From Missouri” Alfred Steinberg writes: The aftermath was, of course, war between the Arabs and Jews. But the new nation held its own. A year later, the Chief Rabbi of Israel… wanted to meet Truman and thank him. [Dave] Niles recalled:”Rabbi Herzog told Truman,”God put you in your mother’s womb so you would be the instrument to bring about the rebirth of Israel after two thousand years.” I thought he was overdoing things, but when I looked over at the President, tears were running down his checks.”

While all these things are true. It is the biblical show me I want to address.

Exodus 33:12-23
12 Moses said to the LORD, “See, thou sayest to me, ‘Bring up this people’; but thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’ 13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found favor in thy sight, show me now thy ways, that I may know thee and find favor in thy sight. Consider too that this nation is thy people.” 14 And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” 15 And he said to him, “If thy presence will not go with me, do not carry us up from here. 16 For how shall it be known that I have found favor in thy sight, I and thy people? Is it not in thy going with us, so that we are distinct, I and thy people, from all other people that are upon the face of the earth?” 17 And the LORD said to Moses, “This very thing that you have spoken I will do; for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.” 18 Moses said, “I pray thee, show me thy glory.” 19 And he said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim before you my name ‘The LORD’; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. 20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my face; for man shall not see me and live.” 21 And the LORD said, “Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand upon the rock; 22 and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by; 23 then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen.”

Many people including myself believe that Missouri has a destiny to be a place where people come with the “I can not go on with out you God” attitude. The Lord replies with a “I will show you my glory” even as He did Moses, when we take the posture of humility that He did. We are known as a family vacation state with many lakes, caves, bike trails and of course theme parks. They come burdened down and leave exhilarated. Here in Kansas City there is a place called International House of Prayer IHOP. We locals have a saying “dieing to live in Kansas city” people from all over the world come here to experience 24 hour prayer. What actually happens is people come with all their issue and the Lord says this one thing

Galations 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

People either find out to see the Glory of the Lord you have to die, “die to self” or say no I have to much to live for and go on about their busy lives. I have been hanging around here most of my adult life and I find the more I let the Lord deal with kill my evil desires lust pride etc. the more I see His Glory.

Governor Hardin saw the need for our state to pray and fast yet while he is dead his call is still bearing fruit. BELIEVE it or NOT. Harry S Truman is dead and just a few miles away from his old home is a place that is devoted to 24 hour prayer and much of it is for Israel and God end time purposes. I myself live about 2 miles from Truman’s boy hood home and I think about him often. This is what I think, Truman was just a man he was not perfect in fact he was involved in the masonic lodge in all their secrets and who knows what else but this I know, God used Him. I meet Truman’s niece Mary Truman Gracey and she personally told me Truman firmly believe God had raised him up to help establish Israel as a nation.

My prayer is that our state would show the Jewish people the complete revelation of the glory of God that is no longer hidden behind a Vail but can be seen in the person of Jesus, Yeshua. Unlike the message of some popular preachers Jesus was the messiah and is the messiah and one day ALL ISRAEL will know it. God Bless Israel with the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to Know Him. Amen

I had the privilege to Travel with Regina Shank of Carthage Missouri to a handful of nations and have seen God’s hand move in supernatural ways. It is here in Missouri that I saw Regina who has been the leader of State wide prayer for several National Ministries touch the historic destiny of Missouri. I watched and participated as groups went to the literal places in the state and nation where monstrosities had previously happened. At those geographic locations extensive prayer and repentance for the sins of our forefathers was given. There is a weight that lifts as we stand in gap an own the sin of the Nation and put our trust in God that he is good and can heal our Land. We are in an hour where we desperately need God to intervene.

From the heart of the nation, the Bible belt, the bread basket, the land we call Missouri, we Love Jesus, yes we do, we love Jesus, how about You?      SHOW ME!

Jesus declared that He and the Father were one and even prayed that His followers would be one as He and the Father are one. So where does that leave us, what options do we have? Jesus also said His sheep knew His voice, that He makes clear. What is not clear is why we as sheep keep wandering off on our own trails leaving the rest of the fold behind. That is the struggle and that is why Jesus time and time again leaves the 99 and goes after the one. Like the old saying goes” He who fails to learn the lessons in the failures of history is doomed to repeat them”.

Ok I am waving a red flag every body listen “NO LONE RANGERS” “NO ONE MAN SHOWS” those days are over its about relationships. First comes our relationship with the Lord, and then with each other. Iron sharpens Iron and as we are in the hand of the Lord and He works us together, what a weapon is formed. There is a greek word Sunarmologevw  used only two times in the entire New Testament and both are found in the book of Ephesians. The word is a verb and has the following meaning:1. to join closely together, 2. to frame together, 3. parts of a building, 4. the members of the body. It is translated as the word together in the KJV. Together is a common English word that has a vast meaning so we know there are many times it is used in scripture but not being the greek word at hand. The first is: Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: The second being:Eph 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love

Who has God placed around you and what is God building in your life as you relate to one another. If we could be honest we would admit its character and integrity. We have to get out of this mentality that we have to fix every one else. I need fixing and the lord uses those around me to help at the same time it works both ways. If we can allow this to work out in a small group setting then we can begin a kind of spiritual networking. A huge net, I am a knot with strings connecting to five other knots and so on and so on. Before long we have a big net. Let the net be consumed with the Lords presence while we live, pray and worship and see what use the Lord will find for the net.

Back in 1987 while I was living in the little town of Adrian Missouri. We were very poor and with no college degree it was hard to make much money. But I had developed a prayer life and began building relationships in the Assembly of God Church with whom I still have great friends. That was our home for over 12 years and during that time I began to journal. I would have strong encounters with the Lord about His heart for His bride and the nations. For years I prayed and waited and continued building relationships as God developed my character. There were simple things I was involved with that helped in that process. Teaching Sunday school, serving as elder, jail ministry, intercession but mostly waiting on the Lord.

Then Shortly after the year 2000 the Lord began to open doors of ministry including five missions trips to Uganda East Africa through my friend and brother Kato, and several of our friends have gone also. Again it is my goal here to demonstrate the importance of relationships in our Christian walk. In December I will be taking my 6th mission trip to Uganda looking into thr prospects of helping start an orphanage.

Fear-of-God will be all his joy and delight.

Fear of God , those words alone tend to stop people in their tracks maybe one of the most misunderstood truths of scripture. See what the word says and you may be surprised! Please look at a Hebrew word related to the Fear of the Lord below and all the places in the old Testament where it is used. The word usage will be in bold and underlined. I define the fear of the Lord as this : The intersection between the Holiness of God and us in our Sin as we die to self put on Christ and are excepted as Righteous in Him. See if you agree!

Prof text : Is 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

Strongs 7306 Ruwach (Hiphil) to smell, scent, perceive odour, accept

Gen 8:21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done

Gen 27:27 And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed:

Ex 30:38 Whosoever shall make like unto that, to smell thereto, shall even be cut off from his people.

Lev 26:31 Whosoever shall make like unto that, to smell thereto, shall even be cut off from his people.

De 4:28 And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.

Jud 6:9 Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.

1 Sam 26:19 Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the LORD have stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if they be the children of men, cursed be they before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods.

Job 39:25 He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

Ps 115:6 They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:

Is 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

Amos 5:21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.

Is 11:3
NLT He will delight in obeying the LORD. He will never judge by appearance, false evidence, or hearsay.

NAS And He will delight in the fear of the LORD, And He will not judge by what His eyes see, Nor make a decision by what His ears hear;

ASV And He will delight in the fear of the LORD, And He will not judge by what His eyes see, Nor make a decision by what His ears hear;

RSV And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide by what his ears hear;

The Message Fear-of-God will be all his joy and delight. He won’t judge by appearances, won’t decide on the basis of hearsay.
There we have it the idea is smell and in particular the smell of an excepted sacrifice as it is being consumed by fire. Isaiah chapter 11 :1-10 speaking of the messiah Yeshua”Jesus” would minister under the anointing of Holy Spirit. There is a picture of the 7 fold Spirit of God which simple means manifold “one Spirit”. As Jesus walked this earth literally as a young man He grew in wisdom and stature laying down His will and surrendering to the moment by moment leading of Holy Spirit. These verses in Isaiah give depth and insight into what that was like. Not judging by the natural but moving by the Spirit Of God. This I think was an example to us to be lead by the Spirit and to walk in the Spirit. Here is Isaiah’s revelation from God.

1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; 3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: 4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. 5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. 6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

I have underlined the 7 Manifold natures of Holy Spirit. Notice how they are in pairs only the Spirit of the Lord is listed alone. You get the picture of a menorah with the Spirit of the Lord being the center shaft and each pair balanced out on each side of the center making a 7 fold lamp stand.

We get a clear picture of Jesus being the light of the world as His sacrifice on the cross was a sweet smelling savor to the father. Being excepted consumed by the fire of the Spirit. As we are in Christ our lives also are a sweet smell to the father as seen in 2 cor 2:14-16 .14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. 15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: 16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

Below is a copy of the cover of a recorded music CD which demonstrates the above idea. I co-wrote the music with Mikki Olson. Maybe one day we will get the files of it up on the web.

I have been personally been under a shaking from the Lord for about five years. He has been dealing with me at deeper layers of pride and impure motives. As soon as I think I am feeling mature and walking in integrity, I get blindsided with my own immaturity and cold heart. Then as soon as I am humbled new emotions rise up, anger at Christians who seem to be dealing not with internal sin issues but external in your face sin and getting away with it.

Then of course the whole judging thing comes up. Because of the above issues I am very reluctant to be writing in such a manner but I must. The Lord chastens those He loves so He must love me a lot. I am thankful for His gentle hand working in me giving me every opportunity to avoid the firmer.

For years when people have come to me all bent out of shape about wanting instant justice with wrongs, I have referred them to the Lords nature of being long suffering even as He says of Himself.

Exodus 34:5-9 5 And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. 6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, 7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation. 8 And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped. 9 And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.
The Lord is long suffering and yet there is a day of reckoning, the guilty if unrepentant will be paid a visit by the Lord. I always say leave it to the Lord He has a way of dealing with His own. Which brings me back to the point I believe that the Lord is about to visit the Church in America with a shaking of all shaking’s. The same Jesus that showed up and found His fathers house turned into a Den of thieves is about to clean it up again, He is in charge of the Church right?
Hebrews 12:18-29
18 For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, 19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: 20 (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: 21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:) 22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. 25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: 26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. 27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29 For our God is a consuming fire.
This is a two fold plea. First if the shaking knocks your spiritual hero off their pedestal don’t put them back on, let Jesus take His rightful place. Second Can we please have some discernment in the body of Christ ask for it, I honestly can not believe what we have been turning our heads away from.
Bottom line the Lord has been so gracious to us but it is time. LET THE SHAKING CONTINUE. Jesus is so worthy of a bride without spot or wrinkle! He will have just that in the End

1st peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

The Lord is truly on the move and many are following. I want to herald a “yes and amen” to all that the Lord is doing. I also want to make the point that God has moved many times in history. We can look back to see when men went north while the Lord was going south.

As we stand on the brink of both the greatest revival and the greatest falling away in the history of the world. Please be wise and learn the lessons of history and His-story. His-story is the story of a servant King. If we are to rule and reign we must serve as Jesus served. Servanthood was His posture and it must be ours. The Apostle Paul points us to Jesus:

Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone, in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

(Ephesians 19-22)

We understand that we are the temple. We are all living stones, but Jesus is the chief cornerstone. The location of that stone, the cornerstone is what I want to address. It is on the bottom. It is the stone that sets the building square. It is the stone that supports, the stone that under girds:

Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.

(1 Peter 2:4-6)

Jesus faced rejection. He was betrayed in the house of His friends and crucified by the world He came to save. I grow tired of being walked on, but Jesus never complained about being mistreated. I doubt if any of us could say the same. Jesus was walked on, spit on, kicked and beaten, but most importantly He is now being built upon. We must take the same posture. We must quit protecting our identity and begin to identify with the fellowship of His suffering leading to the crucified life—the “not my will but thine” life. As we lay our lives down as a sacrifice upon Jesus we are truly built up into a spiritual house in which dwells the Spirit of God. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. (Ephesians1:22-23)

This is the greatest paradox: the One who created everything, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the same One is Head over all things and is most definitely Head of the Church. In authority there is none higher, yet in position there is none lower.

Are you in a position of authority? It is on the bottom. It is a place of service. It is an honor not a job. This might be a good time for some examination of how we are connected to the living stones around us. Are we giving the support that others need? Are we helping those weak stones up to their place in the wall or are we ripping out the loose stones that don’t seem to fit and casting them to the ground?

3-D Vision

This is a head-on collision with a popular teaching that seems harmless up front but can leave a trail of disillusioned Christians sitting on the side lines or even hiding in their prayer closets: positive confession versus truth. Let me say right now that many people have been wounded in the body of Christ by well meaning people just telling the truth and then saying, “well, the truth hurts, but THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE.”

The fact is that Scripture makes it very clear that we can do nothing outside the limits of love. There has been enough wounding in the body of Christ to last until Jesus returns, so right up front let me say, when I talk about truth it’s not in the form of a weapon but in the form of a mirror. As for positive confession, great, just make sure it’s not covering up a lie.

Back to the mirror, the one thing the mirror doesn’t do is to lie. It shows who we really are wrinkles, blemishes and all. Shawn Charles and his wife Laura are some of the greatest friends I have, along with their son Kyle. The Charles family taught me one of those pillar things that makes me who I am: transparency. This family is the best example of transparency that I have ever seen. They make me feel as if I am part of their family. You know exactly what I mean—family knows the real you. The you that lives on Sunday morning before church, before the dress clothes, the facade and the mask that we put on for all to view from nine till noon.

I did the mask thing well, until I met the Charles’. These people know how to confess their faults to one another and then receive healing. I am learning to do the same. If you can’t confess that you’re sick how can you call for the elders of the church to anoint you with oil so you may receive healing? Honesty and transparency are a rare commodity these days.

It is not enough to be honest about our condition. We need to also be honest about God’s ability to meet our needs according to His riches in glory and that He’s able to do more than we can think or ask. If you’re not convinced that the Lord is “all that” then put Him to the test. Try him. That’s right. You’re not going to shock Him. He’s God. He can handle honesty. It is a deceitful heart that causes Him a problem.

We have a big mess in the Body of Christ and it’s this: if my church knew how I really am, they would not like me. If God knew what I really am, He would never use me. Hog wash or in more biblical terms it’s rubbish. But that’s good because the Apostle Paul said: Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ. (Philippians 3:8)

Listen, its all rubbish from our best day to our worst. It’s about Jesus, not us. So let’s just get real. Here is something real. We are messed up. We don’t care too much for most Christians. They are too much like us. We are not sure why Jesus said we would lay hands on the sick or cast out devils because most of us would be blown away if it happened here in America. Sure, in third world countries, maybe it could happen, but they are desperate.

Oh, I hit a nerve. That hurt. You see, I have a pretty good job, good health insurance and if all else fails I can ask God for help. Sound familiar? OH YEAH, desperation, that I can use.

That brings me back to the boredom I was wallowing in before my 2nd trip to Uganda. I think I was bordering on desperation then, but not now. I am full blown desperate and much more. If you’re with me let’s dive right in to the matter at hand.

Before David, the mighty shepherd-warrior, ever sat on a throne he learned the craft of weaponry to protect his sheep. Before the stone ever found Goliath, it found many a wild animal. Before he ever ruled from his palace he hid in caves. Before he ever mounted up on wings as eagles, David learned to wait.

David had the most incredible group of warriors around him known as “David’s Mighty Men.” Reading of their victories in battle will leave you speechless. For example one of David’s mighty men named Abishai killed three hundred men with his spear as noted in 1 Chronicles 11:20. What were God’s requirements to join this mighty army?

Today the United States Marine Corps has the slogan “All We Need Is A Few Good Men.” But these valiant men wouldn’t meet God’s standard. Let’s read about the qualifications that the Lord wanted:

David therefore departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam. And when his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him. And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him.

(1 Samuel 22:1-2)

Would you qualify for Gods 3-D vision of being in DISTRESS, DEBT and DISCONTENTMENT? It’s going to take real transparent men and women to join this army. I promise you God is stirred with pleasure toward people who know their own weakness and His enduring strength and ability to change us from vessels of self to vessels empty enough to hold Him.

This should be arousing something within us even now to say, “Yes, in my current condition, I give myself to you, oh God.”

The devil will be content with our staying in the 3-D condition but confessing the facade. Then we pose no danger. Remember that he is the master of delusion. If you still have doubts that God can take you right where you are and do something so incredible, so amazing that you could not even conceive it, look whom God chose to bring forth His own Son to save us. These women are listed among all the men in the genealogy of Jesus. Oh what pure women must have been chosen. Let’s see:

The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham: Abraham begot Isaac, Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brothers. Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram. Ram begot Amminadab, Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon. Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David the king. David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah. Solomon begot Rehoboam, Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa. Asa begot Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah. Uzziah begot Jotham, Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah. Hezekiah begot Manasseh, Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah. Josiah begot Jeconiah and his brothers about the time they were carried away to Babylon. And after they were brought to Babylon, Jeconiah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel. Zerubbabel begot Abiud, Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor. Azor begot Zadok, Zadok begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud. Eliud begot Eleazar, Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob. And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ. So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.

(Matthew 1:1-17)

Tamar, Rahab, Ruth and Uriah’s wife are all in the ancestry of Jesus. If you are not familiar with these women, let me remind you. Tamar slept with her father-in-law Judah after her husband died so that she could have a child. You may read this account in Genesis 38:15-30.

Rahab was the Jericho prostitute of Joshua 2:1 who hid the two spies and was later rewarded with life when the Israelites conquered Jericho.

Uriah’s wife Bathsheba was bathing naked on the rooftop when David saw her and took her. Then David had her husband, one of his own mighty men, killed in 2 Samuel 10:15.

The rose among thorns was Ruth, a Moabite (not kosher). She gets a whole book of the Bible written about her—pretty special considering she was not even Jewish. Listen, if God chose these women to bring forth His own Son, what can He do with you?
